Online reputation management (ORM) means is the practice of crafting strategies that shape or influence the perception of an organization, brand, an individual or other entity on the Internet to the public. It helps drive public opinion about a business and its products and/or services. It is all about improving your brand’s image and credibility and restoring its trust amongst its customers.

By using ORM, one tries to mitigate the negative content posted about them on the internet and create proactive marketing strategies to increase their online visibility. This is done by countering or eliminating the negative content found on the Internet.

There are 3 steps in ORM

  1. Track and monitor: Identify the keywords that represent you or your brand, and learn what is being said about your brand.
  2. Evaluate and interpret: After identifying what is being said about your brand, interpret this data and group them into various categories like positive, negative, branding, trolls, regional, etc
  3. Act and engage: Devise a specific action plan about how you’ll address this. Engage with negative feedback and work on it
