What are the best Java programming practices?

Our developers have created some food for thought for your Java development practices (in case you’re not turning to them for work) –

  1. Remember C++ Destructors!
  2. Don’t go for your early SPI evolution judgement. It’s a semantic environment.
  3. Avoid returning to inner or local anonymous classes.
  4. Let your APIs accept SAMs as much as possible.
  5. Avoid returning NULL from API methods.
  6. Never return NULL arrays from API methods. (Yes, it’s important to say this twice over!)
  7. Avoid state, be functional.
  8. Short circuit – equals()
  9. Try to make final methods as default.
  10. Avoid the method (T…) signature.

And yet we’d love to help you with your code, new or to re-establish control. Drop a word, here!
