For starters, it won’t be usable on Windows phones after 31st December 2019.

Also, you won’t be able to create new accounts on your number or re-verify the existing account starting January 2020. So. Shift. To. Android/iOS. Now!
Apart from Windows, the app is expected to stop working on a few older iOS and Android versions too. Android 2.3.7 and iOS 8, anything lesser than these versions will not support Whatsapp on your phones. These users have time till 1st February 2020.
No, Whatsapp isn’t being hostile towards you, they’re just stopping development support for the ancient versions.
So no outdated OS post 31st December’20 if you use Windows, and 31st January’20 if you use Android/iOS.
